Lubricant No. 158 is used in rolling bearings of generators, needle bearings of a crosspiece of cardan joints, in friction units for cleaning windshields of cars, tractors and other machines. Lubricant No. 158 is intended for use in automotive electrical equipment (generators, starters, magneto), where it provides rolling bearings without a shift for several years. This eliminates the need for periodic lubrication of such units in the operation of vehicles and tractors.

Lubricant No. 158 is widely used in needle bearings of cardan joints of irregular angular velocity. Lubrication can not be replaced within 300 thousand kilometers. For such a long time without a change, lubricant No. 158 can only work in cardan joint bearings with double sealing, which so far are not installed on all types of vehicles. Automotive grease –158 is a soft smooth ointment texture. The blue color of grease 158 is due to the presence of copper phthalocyanine, a pigment that plays the role of a thickener and an antioxidant additive, in it.
The temperature range of application (from -40 ° C to 120 ° C) of lubricant No. 158 specified in the technical specifications TU 38.101320-77 is not sufficiently differentiated. If viscous aviation oil is used as the base oil, the lubricant will not have good low temperature properties. In most rolling bearings of electric vehicles, the frost resistance of the lubricant is not decisive. Therefore, lubricant No. 158 is indispensable in these friction units. However, as a rule, it should be used at temperatures not lower than -30 ° C. Lubricant No. 158 is operable at temperatures up to 90-100 ° C for a long time. Its short-term overheating to 120 ° C is allowed. Nominally it is required that its dropping temperature is not lower than 125 ° C; in fact, this figure is close to 150 ° C.
